Greetings CHAOS and Guests,
Well, I have to apologize for the lack of updating my messages.
First, thank you to all club members for allowing me to continue being president of the Chapel Hill Astronomical & Observational Society. I am most humbly honored. You are an amazing group of people and the collective knowledge is jaw dropping. The things that our club members do and call it a hobby, is just really cool.
We are on the cusp of the Fall 2026 star party and we have numbers that we haven’t seen since before COVID. It’s good to be back to those numbers. What is really cool is how many 20, 30 and 40 somethings who are coming to this event. Life isn’t in the little rectangle box in our hands, it’s all around you, and we choose to observe what is beyond our atmosphere. And we love sharing the expanses of space with our fellow man at the party and observing sessions.
I hope everyone has had a good summer. I know we lost a few friends, but we have made many more. Keep looking up!
Clear skies,
Jayme Hanzak
President of CHAOS
